Well, here is an oldie - The recently (2019) reissued MPC 1/25 1974 Pontiac Firebird T/A. Lots of fit issues with the body aero-effects, as one might expect with a kit that has been reissued countless times.
Currently, I'm in the putty, sand, prime, repeat process ... I started this kit in 2003 and then put it away due to several things going on at the time. Fast forward nearly 20 years and two houses later, and I have decided I'd like to finish it. The Tamiya kit, as you'd expect, assembles nicely. The original Mythos was red, but who wants a red Ferrari? More pictures to come once the kit is completed.
Our local club had a same kit build off, and we presented our finished projects at the December meeting. Everyone started with the Revell Baja Bronco (a fun kit, by the way!). Here is my interpretation. I used Tamiya paints throughout. Modifications include aluminum tubing for exhaust tips, Fireball Modelworks resin "Cactus Smasher" push bar, Daylighter driving lights, wheels and tires with white lettering. I also added seatbelts and buckles using a Gofer Racing aftermarket set.
Just getting started on this one. It was gifted to me by someone on one of my favorite model car message boards. This is the Kevin VanDam Amigo Pack issue of the Revell 1999 Silverado. The kit decals are kind of suspect - like some water damage. But, I want to paint it similar to my 2004 Silverado.
Our local model car club holds an "It's All In The Cards" build-off every year. The idea is that each person draws two cards and they have until the end of the year (or whenever) to build something that meets the criteria of the two cards. For example, a person might draw "Race Car" and "Paintbrush Only", or "1950's and Shiny", or "Snap Kit" and "Spray Paint Only", or whatever. This year, I drew "1950's" and "Rat Rod". The rule is that nobody can show what they're building until the night the challenge closes. This year, I didn't finish in time, so I think it's ok to share. I decided to limit myself to raiding parts from two kits as much as possible. Most of the parts came from either the AMT / Round2 1955 Cameo or from the Revell 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. Some parts (such as the fuel tank) were scrounged from my parts box. Decals are mostly from the Model A kit.
I really need to photograph this one again sometime. Built around 2017 or so, this is Tamiya's (vintage!) RX-7, which started life as a motorized kit. Built straight from the box.The Knight Rider. This kit of K.I.T.T. was a gift from my Brother-in-law for Christmas 2020. I used Tamiya paints throughout. Built out of the box, save for some seatbelts and hardware made from tape and fine wire. Scanner effect was faked with a laser pointer. :) This was gifted to me by a good friend for Christmas 2020. I debated for a while about trying to replicate the Hugger Orange car on the box art, but finally decided to build it as more of a beater. I'm sure some future enterprising owner might can restore the Camaro to it's former glory ... |
